The Story
At the southern boundary of the Appalachian Mountains lies Jones Valley, a picturesque 1,700-acre farm in Huntsville, Alabama. For the family who had stewarded this land over decades, the vision was never to create another development, it was to set a new standard for families that would live here. During the project’s inception, Land Innovations was asked to serve as a trusted advisor and consultant, helping establish a foundational platform built around the family’s goals, values, and long-term vision.
The Why
Lendon was envisioned in 2012 as a Traditional Neighborhood Development in North Alabama by developers John Blue and Peter Lowe. As such, the neighborhood was created on the principles of working with the land rather than against it, embracing low-impact development principles that respected the site’s natural form and long-term sustainability. Through thoughtful planning, walkability, and timeless architecture design, Lendon helped establish a new benchmark for residential development in the region. Together with the Village of Providence, the groundwork created by these early communities ultimately helped pave the way for the vision and evolution of Westmoore Landing more than a decade later.
The Master Plan
The Lendon Master Plan encompasses approximately 350 homesites while balancing residential density with thoughtfully integrated public spaces, pedestrian connectivity, and architectural character to foster a strong sense of place. At the heart of the community is an 8-acre hamlet that serves as a central gathering area and neighborhood focal point, creating opportunities for everyday interaction, shared experiences, and a lifestyle centered around connection and chance meetings.
